Hi,
I saw a message when I was doing an emerge --update today about the following package being deprecated:
| Code: | | media-tv/ivtv-firmware |
I unmerged it and replaced it with:
| Code: | | sys-kernel/linux-firmware |
as advised by the warning message.
Hoever the firmware I need (v4l-cx2341x-enc.fw) is not in there...
Any ideas? |

| This was https://bugs.gentoo.org/362361 and is solved since today with >=sys-firmware/ivtv-firmware-20080701-r1 package that includes the files that are not in linux-firmware. |

So the warning about ivtv-firmware and it not being updated/maintained etc etc is now moot?
Can I just emerge ivtv-firmware again with linux-firmware coexisting? |

Yes, you can now install both. The summary of the bug report was misleading and we noticed it later on.
ivtv-firmware for the files you were asking, and linux-firmware for anything else |
