what is the differences between:

AFAIK link works only with files and creates hard links, but with ln you can do this too, so why is link still around? _________________ "I want to see gamma rays! I want to hear X-rays! Same reason so many old things are still around, because they are so small it isn't "bad" to have them, and there *might* be some script or something that depends on it. Also in many cases the new functionality in the replacement simply calls the old process directly anyway.
If you know about both, why worry about it? Do you really have nothing else to worry or complain about? _________________

Although I like this attitude I would stick with ln since link doesn't do it better than ln (AFAIK)

Because I'm a purist and I want to be able to know the whole system, so every redundancy most be avoided... however I have many things to worry and complain about.. _________________ "I want to see gamma rays! Trivia: The GNU coreutils package was created in 2003 by a merger of three packages (GNU fileutils, GNU shellutils, and GNU textutils). The 'ln' utility was part of fileutils, and the 'link' command was part of shellutils. _________________ Oldthinkers unbellyfeel INGSOC.

Don't worry, as necessary, they'll have a photo of Obama using either link or ln, depending on what they need the press to disperse. _________________ lolgov. 'cause where we're going, you don't have civil liberties.

At least someone leaves a comment on my sneaky little trick to get more readers.. Moreover with a well dosed sarcastic criticism of one of the human weaknesses to see / use what suits their needs and not what is right... _________________ "I want to see gamma rays! I had to, since it was the only part of the post I could comment on (Seriously though, I don't think I knew of link's existence). _________________ lolgov. 'cause where we're going, you don't have civil liberties.

more trivia:
| Quote: | The ln utility conforms to IEEE Std 1003.2-1992 (``POSIX.2'').
The simplified link command conforms to Version 2 of the Single UNIX Specification (``SUSv2''). |
