hey,
I've wondered how many packages and what packages I've installed on my systems:
T420s:
http://bpaste.net/show/74426
Desktop:
http://bpaste.net/show/74427
what have you installed? _________________ "I want to see gamma rays! I want to hear X-rays! Do you see the absurdity of what I am? I can't even express these things properly because I have to conceptualize complex ideas in this stupid limiting spoken language!" |

vim, ill take note and look for exploits....
app-admin/hddtemp-0.3_beta15-r3 as i remember that ones pretty buggy, and uses some exploitable settings.
firefox 17, oh yeah? isnt 18 out due to security issues on 17?
id be a little more paranoid schizophrenic about posting whats on my system, and what versions are on it..... though id say your system looks pretty solid over all |

Why? Never heard that vim has security holes !? (or more then other packages...)

I don't know, but obviously I have to get informed..

Actually I'm quite a paranoid bastard, but learning/exploring has a higher priority than security at the moment and obviously you just gave me some input Besides what can you do with this information? I mean you don't know where I am... I can't think of a way to break into your system with that information, but of course I'm not an expert in this area, so if I get hacked now I will be more experienced
Was this really a stupid idea?? So then I guess I have to set up a total different system and I don't see your packages... _________________ "I want to see gamma rays! I want to hear X-rays! ok, thanks...
btw, my desktop is a total mess, I've tried/installed things and didn't remove them because at the moment I just surf, watch movies, listen to sound on my desktop. The work is done with the laptop... _________________ "I want to see gamma rays! I want to hear X-rays! Do you see the absurdity of what I am? The one that's quite visible in the first line.

Is this the C or C++ package-manager from gentoo? Why do you use it, are there many differences compared to portage? _________________ "I want to see gamma rays! I want to hear X-rays! Well everything's built in and integrated for one; layman, gentoolkit, equery, eix. It's also strict by default about system-bricking actions instead of putting things on a slightly longer countdown which Portage does. The developers also take QA seriously, the test suite is very thorough and they do their best to make it work with badly-written ebuilds that Portage is too loose to catch. |

Mines not too exciting either. 500 packages which is supposed to be a minimal install but you know how it goes. It's kinda like trying to keep your room clean when you're a kid, things just pile up. : /

Indeed, I gave my world file a clean out yesterday (only 5 misplaced packages), which resulted in a total 12 packages I didn't need getting removed, the thing that gets me is manually trying to fix/tinker with something and forgetting the 1/oneshot option - it's second nature when updating portage but for everything else my brain just throws it out of the window and goes on a rampage |

Lol. I am even more embarrassed to show files in package.[accept_keywords|use|mask|unmask]
Since my exact same gentoo is carried and migrated over to newer laptops since 2004, I never had to install from scratch. So lots of things are there. I always think about cleaning, but it works perfect. So, why bother _________________ Anyway it's all the same at the end...
Need help to get it working: "x-fi surround 5.1" |
