My /home consists of 2x2TB disks in a ZFS mirror (ZFSOnLinux)

The pool was created using the labels
/dev/disk/by-id/scsi-SATA_ST2000DM001-9YN_{serial} and
/dev/disk/by-id/scsi-SATA_ST2000DM001-9YN_{other serial}

Today I upgraded udev and rebooted my machine, and what a surprise! Apparently, someone has decided to change how the disk identifies itself to the system, so now my ZFS won't mount anymore, complaining that "One or more devices could not be used because the label is missing".
The disks are now identified by

/dev/disk/by-id/ata-ST2000DM001-9YN164_{serial} and
/dev/disk/by-id/ata-ST2000DM001-9YN164_{other serial}

Important question: How do I safely update the zpool disk label entries to use the new IDs without losing 2 TB of my data?

Ok, I solved it myself.

I did a 'zpool export home' followed by 'zpool import home -f', that updated the device names.

Not sure what this does or if it's safe, but my /home is working again!
