Hi dear all,
After an update (unsure it's the cause of my issue), which caused gcc to upgrade (slotted).
Grub does not show at boot time anymore
I've recompiled grub and reinstall.
Any idea what I should investigate to find out the cause of the issue?
Thanks for your attention

Grub should not "disappear"... What exactly does it do now? Do you get the grub prompt with no menu, or is your screen stuck on BIOS or shortly after BIOS, or what?
(the former is likely when you grub-install to the wrong disk (like if you had it installed to MBR before and now just to a partition), the latter is due to really damaging your bootloader - perhaps wrong partition set active or damaging the grub image on disk?)
Normally just emerging stuff ... I can't think of any reason how it would damage the bootloader... I thought that even if you re-emerged grub you still have to grub-install to actually cause changes to the bootloader. _________________ Core-i7-2700K@4.1GHz/8GB RAM/180GB SSD/Intel HD3000 graphics

basically at boot time I don't even have a grub prompt.
I've recompiled my grub and did re install as follow:
grub
root (hd0,0)
setup (hd0,0)
quit
my menu.lst points to grub.lst
I have my gentoo for over " years now, and always did solved boot time issues myself, but unfortunately I feel like stuck this time.
Thanks for your attention, interest and support. |

Hi dear all,
Finally just a stupid mistake of mine : discrete GC activated in bios when switchable was required (broken laptop screen, and external monitor on VGA port).
Sorry for mess,
At least your support provided my with enough courage to investigate until fixed.
