Hi!

When installing qemu with the spice-flag, app-emulation/spice stops with an error:
Quote:
checking for pyparsing python module... not found
configure: error: pyparsing python module is required to compile this package

/var/tmp/portage/app-emulation/spice-0.11.3/work/spice-0.11.3/configure.ac contains
Quote:
if test ! -e client/generated_marshallers.cpp; then
AC_MSG_CHECKING([for pyparsing python module])
echo "import pyparsing" | ${PYTHON} - >/dev/null 2>&1
if test $? -ne 0 ; then
AC_MSG_RESULT([not found])
AC_MSG_ERROR([pyparsing python module is required to compile this package])
fi

dev-python/pyparsing 1.5.6 is installed via emerge, in Pythons help('modules') list and
Code:
import pyparsing
doesn't return an error in a Python Shell.

I don't understand why it the installation does not work. Do you have any suggestions?

Thanks a lot

app-emulation/spice-0.11.3
depend on
=dev-lang/python-2*
so, you need pyparsing for python2
Code:
equery u pyparsing
or
Code:
qlist -IUv pyparsing
and
Code:
emerge --info

Thanks! Oh no, i never made it with two different python versions :(

Maybe this time! As far as i understand, i have Python 3.2 and 2.7 installed with 3.2 as default. I switched with eselect to 2.7 and tried to emerge spice but it failed as before. How can i check, if my pyparsing works with 2.7?

    * Found these USE flags for dev-python/pyparsing-1.5.6:
    U I
    - - doc : Adds extra documentation (API, Javadoc, etc). It is recommended
    to enable per package instead of globally
    - - examples : Install examples, usually source code

Damn it, only 3.2! But PYTHON_TARGETS="python2_7 python3_2". Why??? :?

I was able to fix it this way - is this ok or is there a better way to go?

eselect python list
Available Python interpreters:
[1] python2.7
[2] python3.2 *
eselect python set 1
env-update

>>> Regenerating /etc/ld.so.cache...
source /etc/profile
python-updater

* Starting Python Updater...
* Main active version of Python: 2.7
* Active version of Python 2: 2.7
* Active version of Python 3: 3.2
* Globally supported Python ABIs in installed repositories:
* gentoo: 2.4 2.5 2.6 2.7 3.1 3.2 3.3 2.5-jython 2.7-pypy-1.7 2.7-pypy-1.8 2.7-pypy-1.9 2.7-pypy-2.0
[...]
* Adding to list: dev-python/pyparsing:0
[...]
>>> Emerging (6 of 8 ) dev-python/pyparsing-1.5.6
[...]

Now qlist dev-python/pyparsing-1.5 returns
    /usr/lib64/python2.7/site-packages/pyparsing.py
    /usr/lib64/python2.7/site-packages/pyparsing-1.5.6-py2.7.egg-info
    /usr/lib64/python3.2/site-packages/pyparsing-1.5.6-py3.2.egg-info
    /usr/lib64/python3.2/site-packages/pyparsing.py
    /usr/share/doc/pyparsing-1.5.6/CHANGES.bz2
    /usr/share/doc/pyparsing-1.5.6/html/HowToUsePyparsing.html
    /usr/share/doc/pyparsing-1.5.6/README.bz2
:)

spice emerged well with python3.2 as default :D

megabaks, thank you so much.
