It seems the infamous panel bug was finally fixed in 4.9 RC1

New panel bug! It's probably also multi-resolution setup related, since rc2 my center panel is about twice as big as necessary right after startup, on click or unlock it is fine again.

Is it possible to force Kate/KWrite to put in a specific highlight style for a specific non-default extension (let us say, I want every file make.* to be highlighted as Makefile).

I have added make.* in the MIME types, "file make.myfile" reports the correct MIME type, and even Kate reports that make.* is in makefile script type, but it does not highlight it as makefile.

I'm having another problem with KDE4 now. There is no KWin when I launch KDE.
I can see the error
