I have emerged firefox and thunderbird and they seem to have wierd names aurora and lanikal
Whats this all about ???

check if you have compiled both with the 'bindist' USE-flag. If yes, remove it |

The bindist flag is for packages that will be used outside of your system. A great example of this is the Gentoo Live DVD, we do not have the right to brand it firefox/thunderbird as we are not providing what upstream has deemed safe in there opinion with all our patches and system libs. |

Thanks for the great reply.
The useflag was put in my make.conf by default from the minimal cd.
The applications looked exactly the same just with different names. |
