I can not get vlc to open but gnome mplayer just stopped playing anything. mplayer by itself will still render video but still runs to fast. I'm thinking that the sound is what is speeding up the video. Vlc worked just fine before I reinstalled it, even when mplayer was making the video run fast. This issue with the video occurs even on web pages like youtube. I'm starting to wonder if it would be easier to remove all the programs that are affected and there dependency's as I use xfce4. So removing the qt libs and configuration files and start fresh with the entire sound system would be easier.
Vlc crashes / seg-faults after accessing the libQtGuiso.4 and/or libQtCore.so.4 libs
not sure if this could be why but here are my use flags and my vlc package.use changes as that looks strange to me.
