|
|
hi,
Playing anything h264 encoded, at least 1080p, results in atop 67% average cpu usage, even with playing with -lavdopts threads=N. I recall with a geforce 8600 mplayer plays at average of 3% cpu usage.
Is there a way to play h264 with gfx accel on open radeon?
thanks |

| No. Only mpeg2, and even that using shaders, which is very inefficient. If you want decoding using the dedicated hardware decoders, you'll need to use to proprietary fglrx driver. |

Wait a minute, ATI proprietary fglrx driver can do H.264 hardware decoding? Is there any player that supports this? _________________ Please learn how to denote units correctly! |

| If xvba-video still works, you can use vaapi players (VLC, mplayer-vaapi). Otherwise, XBMC has direct xvba support in a branch. |
