|
|
Hello,
Yesterday tried to install end of world edition by following 9~10 chapter Gentoo handbook but failed to get installed. [ which was too obvious for me being a noob ]
I referred to "Install LiveDVD 12.1 to hard disk drive" wiki which looks too handy but...I was unable to configure grub. [ last 3 commands from the page ]
Any help?
is their Wiki already out for End of world edition? I tried to search but was unable to locate.
Regards,
Amey. |

following that wiki is not the ideal way of installing Gentoo Linux. What I suggest is that you join #gentoo on irc.freenode.net or ask someone to help you on this forum while providing as much information as possible about the problem. I am sure we can all help you solve any and all your problems. |

sco1984,
heh, you have likewhoas Gentoo, not yours. It may not be what your want.
Code: | grub
grub> root (hd0,0)
grub> setup (hd0)
grub> quit | you need to understand what these commands do and modify them for your install, just as you did for your /etc/fstab and other install specific parameters.
root (hd0,0) is grubspeak for the location where grub is installed, in this case, the first partition on the first disk found by the BIOS.
setup (hd0) tells grub to write the MBR to the first drive found by the BIOS.
This may or may not be what you want to do - it will vary depending on your particular setup. _________________ Regards,
