Hello,
I've recently been messing with my audio configuration and ended up activating pulseaudio. With just plain alsa, I had annoying background "static" all the time and pulse seems to have eliminated that. I'd like to keep pulse for that reason, however it seems to "lag" or cut out altogether when playing (vlc amarok etc.) and I have no idea where to start diagnosing that.
For example, while watching something with vlc, it will play fine for a while, then the audio (but not video) will start skipping, then stop altogether. The sound card is fine, the problem started immediately after activating pulse - never had a problem before.
Before I go and disable it altogether and return to the alsa background static I thought I'd try asking!
Thanks in advance for any ideas!
PS: I'm somewhat unfamiliar with all this audio stuff, seems like a cobbled together mess of software layers so I'm not really sure what information I need to provide in order for someone to help, so just ask and I'll provide whatever you need! Thanks!
