|
|
Just wondering if anyone is getting the same problems as me.
Normally, I use firefox, and with gentoo, I've had many problems with flash player inside browsers in the past, but last install of gentoo with flash support inside firefox has been very kind to me.
I've always wanted to give google chrome a try inside gentoo, but until now, I kept getting emerge issues and wasn't compelled enough to figure out why. I just left it alone.
Today, however, I thought I would give emerging google chrome another try for specific reasons, and it worked!!! Google chrome seems to appeal to me in specific ways, mostly in the fashion that it seems very stable.
There is a problem with flash videos, however, and the problem is that when I watch flash videos, audio is perfectly fine, but inside the video window, I get little yellow pixels that almost gives the videos a snow globe effect with yellow snow. *shrugs*
So I am wondering if anyone has the same issues and any information about it.
Thank you. _________________ "Wisdom begins in wonder..." ~ Socrates

I intermittently have this problem too.
It seems to come and go with different versions.
google-chrome-23.0.1271.64_p165188 worked fine
but both
google-chrome-24.0.1312.5_beta166104
google-chrome-25.0.1323.1_alpha167142
cause me the spots on video trouble.

Your post got me thinking. Chrome bans some graphics cards from acceleration because they are buggy.
This made me wonder if mine( intel GM965/GL960) had become un-banned since the update.
So I tried some of the disable switches from here (http://peter.sh/experiments/chromium-command-line-switches/)
running with "--disable-accelerated-compositing" made the spots go away.
See if it helps for you.

Robinmarlow, yes, I do have the same exact graphics card, and I tried your method and am pleased to say that it works. The yellow pixels are gone. This is interesting, perhaps this graphics card is tricky in many instances because I've had many issues in the past, mostly with merely flash content. Back before I reinstalled gentoo, support in firefox was always poor, until it became unbearable when it got worse. I was always able to disable and mess with hardware acceleration and it sometimes worked, and othertimes, it didn't. I don't know what any of this means, and I'm always wishing to have enough understanding to get things to work, but it's never easy. I'm glad you could help, for my next laptop, I'm going to have to really research what hardware is ideal for what I want.
kudos.
Oh, and in case you are wondering, I am using this version:

What I have wondered (but haven't quite got around to testing) is if compiling xf86-video-intel with other use flags may make a difference.
currently I'm on:
x11-drivers/xf86-video-intel-2.20.14 USE="dri udev uxa -glamor -sna -xvmc"

Have tried:
x11-drivers/xf86-video-intel-2.20.16 USE="dri glamor sna udev uxa xvmc"
Now have to use --blacklist-accelerated-compositing to avoid the sparkles |

Just ran into a similar problem... deleting cookies solved the problem for me, at least for now. |
