|
|
After a recent ugrade to sys-auth/polkit-0.107-r1 from sys-auth/polkit-0.104-r1, and to sys-auth/consolekit-0.4.5_p20120320-r1 from sys-auth/consolekit-0.4.5_p20120320, KDE has stopped suspending on corresponding keyboard shortcut (Fn+f4), and "suspend" action is missing from "when laptop lid is closed" in "systemsettings -> energy saving settings" (dropdowns with "suspend" previously assigned are now blank). There appears to be an "org.freedesktop.upower.suspend" action in "systemsettings -> Actions policy", with same implicit authorizations as org.freedesktop.consolekit.system.restart (restarting seems to work from KDE still). Acpid still registers Fn+f4 shortcut, so it possible to suspend through acpid + pm-suspend, but I miss my "auto-suspend when lid closed when on battery". Does anybody have any idea what's might have gone wrong with those udates? |

Looks like I was wrong, restarting from KDE doesn't work anymore either.
I'm not sure it is helpful in any way, but
Code: | /usr/bin/ck-list-sessions [9:14/11.23]
Session1:
unix-user = '1000'
realname = '(null)'
seat = 'Seat1'
session-type = ''
active = TRUE
x11-display = ':0'
x11-display-device = '/dev/tty7'
display-device = ''
remote-host-name = ''
is-local = TRUE
on-since = '2012-11-23T07:09:55.888210Z'
login-session-id = ''

Also, it appears that KDE sometimes manages to handle "sleep" event properly. E.g. after reboot KDE never reacts to Fn+f4, and does not suspend, but after logout and re-login it does work, as if some service was not initialized properly during the first login. |

In another thread the upgrade to KDE 4.9 is subjected to break things and so was my feeling because the upgrade of polkit and consolekit came earlier and did not lead directly to problems. Perhaps the combination of both is needed?
I (also) see the following behaviour:
- Suspend with keyboard shortcut does not work anymore
- Suspend and Hibernate are missing from the energy saving options
- Suspend and hibernate are still working when invoked in a root shell by pm-susend/-hibernate
I also recognized that the actions from a widget with suspend/hibernate now additionally ask if I really want to suspend hibernate (is this Windows or what? Seems this is intended to prevent accidentally putting your computer to sleep...). If I answer yes the screen is locked, but the sleep action is never carried out.

Logging out and directly afterwards login in again indeed seems to be a workaround, because now all functions work like before. some race condition when starting and loggin in for the first time?
I additionally recognized that my dashboard which was normally only a transparent overlay and not has been working (was opaque with own background as if compositing was turned off) directly after reboot is also brought back by this action. I thought this was another bug, but now it seems to be linked... |

I'll add my vote to this.
I've got the same symptoms after my latest upgrade to KDE 4.9.3 from 4.8.5, and polkit 0.107-r1 from 0.104-r1.
Logging in and out has no effect. pm-suspend and pm-hibernate work.
Closing the lid and Fn+F1 (used to be sleep) don't work, neither does the Hibernate nor Sleep actions from the KDE "Leave" menu.
I wonder if Bug 438790 is related (though that's talking about KDE 4.10) _________________ Greybeard |

Strangely everything is back to normal in my case. I'm still on KDE 4.9.3 and polkit 0.107-r1, but now the options show up again in the power settings and also function keys and lid closing work as they ever did. I'm not aware of any special change I made, just updating my system on a weekly basis, so perhaps you should try to sync and update the whole thing (perhaps including kernel) when you're not already up-to-date. |

Hi
Same problem with polkit-0.112-r1 and kde-4.12.5-r1.
Will try logoff/login to see if it's the exact same behavior. _________________ Powered by Gentoo Linux since 2003 |

Fixed for me.
Needed to install upower-pm-utils as suggested in the portage news. _________________ Powered by Gentoo Linux since 2003 |
