Hey all,
Since a few versions, I have an issue with wine in that it can't load any programs anymore. Two examples:
Code: | $ wine Democracy2.exe
fixme:win:EnumDisplayDevicesW ((null),0,0x31fe70,0x00000000), stub!
X Error of failed request: BadRequest (invalid request code or no such operation)
Major opcode of failed request: 136 (GLX)
Minor opcode of failed request: 19 (X_GLXQueryServerString)
Serial number of failed request: 283
Current serial number in output stream: 283 |
Code: | $ wine KSP.exe
Mono path[0] = 'Z:/home/spark/Downloads/kerbal/KSP/KSP_Data/Managed'
Mono path[1] = 'Z:/home/spark/Downloads/kerbal/KSP/KSP_Data/Mono'
X Error of failed request: BadRequest (invalid request code or no such operation)
Major opcode of failed request: 136 (GLX)
Minor opcode of failed request: 19 (X_GLXQueryServerString)
Serial number of failed request: 266
Current serial number in output stream: 266 |
The two apps used are, respectively, the games Democracy 2 and the Kerbal Space Program. I had this issue with other games as well and the issue remains when I removed my ~ /.wine directory and recreate it.
The configuration used for wine is:
Code: | # emerge wine -pv
These are the packages that would be merged, in order:
Calculating dependencies... done!
[ebuild R ~] app-emulation/wine-1.5.17 USE="X alsa cups gecko jpeg lcms ldap mono mp3 ncurses nls opengl oss perl png scanner ssl threads truetype udisks v4l win32 win64 xcomposite xinerama xml -capi -custom-cflags -fontconfig -gnutls -gphoto2 -gsm (-gstreamer) -hardened -odbc -openal -opencl -osmesa -pulseaudio -samba (-selinux) {-test}" 0 kB |
What might be the issue here? |

No, I'm not on ~arch, although wine is clearly on ~. And I'm not sure which version was still working, but if it was version specific I presume many more would be having this issue. |

Ok, just to test: I downgraded to the stable wine (1.4.1, never ran stable branch wine before) and removed my ~/.wine again:
Quote: | $ wine KSP.exe
X Error of failed request: BadRequest (invalid request code or no such operation)
Major opcode of failed request: 136 (GLX)
Minor opcode of failed request: 19 (X_GLXQueryServerString)
Serial number of failed request: 852
Current serial number in output stream: 852 |

I've gone back to ~wine, but still haven't found a solution. Does this issue ring any bells for anyone? |

When I do a google search of "Major opcode of failed request: 136 (GLX)", I get a bunch of pages discussing various ATI driver/fglrx configuation problems. Have you looked into that? |

Hmm, no I haven't. But that might actually be very well the issue. I haven't updated the ati-drivers in quite some time as it always broke my X/sleepmode/kernel.
Sounds like I really should dig into that again.
Thanks! |
