80 years? Sounds like he had way more than was acceptable for personal use. Also, it is ILLEGAL in the US. So anyone using it KNOWS they are breaking the law.

Don't do the crime if you can't do the time.

I voted to legalize it in CO, because the money wasted on "fighting" it is beyond insane. That said, I'm certainly not risking federal spooks coming after me just for civil disobedience.

So, I don't really feel sorry for Mr. Montana.

But you clearly see he wasn't thinking that he was doing crime? He had sheriff, governors and whomnot of state of Montana in there showing them around the plants.

I don't think so. I think he just knee-jerked and posted without the facts. How else can you explain the odd comment about personal use?

Someone got 80 years for gay marriage? I'm glad I didn't read the article, that really makes me mad.

Is marijuana legal in the US? No, it is not.

Since it is illegal, period, how can the video be relevant? It is not. I rarely watch posted video links.

Well if you actually watched the video, it explains that the reason is a memo from the US attorney general that explains that the Federal government should not focus resources on individuals whose actions are in clear and unambiguous compliance with existing state laws (in terms of medical marijuana), which this guy was. They later changed the memo saying that medial marijuana users would be exempt from prosecution, not growers.

Well even if you think, he should go to jail, do you think 80 fucking years is alright, considering that he harmed noone, and has a dependant child? Majority of scum, gets much less for murders, paedophilia etc.

I am here.

What can you say other than this is crazy? But as a republican sycophant, you do see that pinning this on Obama is ridiculous given this has been the policy of you govt since before the second world war? He is guilty of being as silly on this issue as everyone before him.

In fact, the video said he eased the law in 2009 until the justice dept came after growers at the urging of congress.

The problem isn't Obama, Bush, or Clinton. The problem is that soccer moms keep getting horrified with drugs at their schools and buy into the propaganda. They don't take into account that it is much harder to control a banned substance than it is to control something legal. I remember how much easier it was for a teen to get drugs in my neighbourhood than alcohol. It was night and day. Local drug dealers don't ID, they just give the drugs to any willing customer, whereas the liquor store basically IDs until you have some significant grey in your hair. You have presidents following popular opinion (although, the video notes that 75% or americans support medical marijuana. Not sure where that number comes from). So, I don't expect Romney would solve this problem, nor Obama or someone without a clear mandate to, and that might take a few cycles. But, in any case, I will be clear how I feel about Obama role in this; supporting and promoting failed, expensive and anti-liberty policies is terrible. For some the anti-liberty part is most important, and while that is important to me, the failed and expensive part is worse.

In any case, it wall to wall insanity. The canadian govt recently (some years ago) extradited to the states the head of the BC Marijuana Party not for selling marijuana, but for selling seeds. One of the interesting points of this case was that this guy had been selling seeds OPENLY in canada. He had a business which he ran openly, declared all profits and paid federal and provincial taxes on his business. So, the govt was happy to take his tax money on his business knowing full well how that money was earned, but was later willing to give his freedom to americans. American tax dollars are currently being spent housing this non-violent criminal selling a non-violent product outside of the US in an american prison. I believe his sentence is 5 years. How much tax does that add up to? say $200,000? you could employ a teacher for a few years for that money.

Read about Marc Emery

Much of this happened under Bush and Harper's watch. Of course, the canadian conservatives were slimey about it.

Did the irony of the reply just 747 you, or did you just admit you as bad as they are?

80 years is not representative of the "crime" (honestly, what fucking crime), but of the federal power trying to set rules that if you fuck with federal gov., that's the gravest of the crimes you can do, worse then rape, murder, kidnapping, etc etc.

If you understand what THAT means, it means that the worst thing a slave can do is to protest against slave owner. If a slave beats up another slave, thats minor, but turn against the owner, you're fucked. That's what it means. Government (or rather people in power who are playing the government like a fiddle) sees you and everybody else as a domestic animal that is to be milked. Worst punishments are reserved for the cows that sting their masters, of course.

So technically, it is correct to say "if you can't do the time, don't do the crime", but I think one should complement that sentence with a proper "Moooo."

:)

Please refrain from using the word "Americunts". It's insulting, and hardly an accurate description of Americans.

That's okay. We just consider the source of the remark.

I thought my ironic reply to their ironic statement of reply to the original statement was fairly mild. If you don't want me to answer, why comment? :P

It is illegal in the US. The US AG "looking the other way" is not law.

Jesus, no way! How do you reconcile that that state you live in allows you to do something, gives you license to do it in fact, and then the Federal government gives you 80 years for it? If anything, the federal government should sue the state, because they would be equally guilty.
