Did a sync today on a system, after the sync it reported a portage update, ok no problem, did the update, decided to do a emerge world, it appears that its totally ignoring masked packages now.

I found one topic on another site stating this was a portage 2.3.4 bug, which im not running anyways.

Currently installed portage:

sys-apps/portage-2.1.11.31 was built with the following:
USE="(ipc) (multilib) -build -doc -epydoc (-pypy1_9) -python2 -python3 (-selinux) -xattr" LINGUAS="-pl"

Code:
mail portage # emerge -uav world

 * IMPORTANT: 5 news items need reading for repository 'gentoo'.
 * Use eselect news to read news items.

These are the packages that would be merged, in order:

That's a bit vague to give any useful hints. What output did you expect compared to the one you posted?

Vague?

As you can see, its clearly trying to install masked packages, for example mysql 5.5.x which is masked, not to mention the other 10 or so that are masked as well.

It shouldnt be installing any of those masked packages.

Code:
[ebuild     U  ] dev-db/mysql-5.5.28 ...
[ebuild     U  ] virtual/mysql-5.5...

It should indicate the that they are masked in that output which they do not. So, yes waiting on emerge --info.

Also you may have had a bad sync in which the profile/.../package.mask file was missing. try another sync.

For reference:
- "totally ignoring masked packages" could mean either that it ignores the mask status of a package (which you're referring to), or that totally ignores the packages when masked instead of listing them as masked.
- "masked" status depends on your system configuration as well as information in the tree. So without further info I cannot see which packages in your first post should be considered "masked" (I'm not going to cross-check everything listed).

As requested.

This make.conf is used across 3 servers, only the two older installs are doing this.

I did actually re-sync the systems 3 times when i noticed it two days ago, just to verify that is wasnt something stoopid like that.

I re-synced it again this morning.

Your emerge --info shows that you've unmasked testing branch. Did you edit your make.conf recently?

make.conf hasnt been modified since Oct 23.

-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 1537 Oct 23 01:58 make.conf

Thats whats strange, nothing was touched.

There are 3 servers running this same make.conf, two have been running since early Oct. & have this issue, the 3rd server w/ the same make.conf was reloaded last week, its the only server running w/ make.conf residing in etc/portage since the move.

make.conf on all 3 servers have
ACCEPT_KEYWORDS="~amd64"

I have never used package.accept_keywords on these servers, it doesnt exist on any server.

So, this line right here
Code:
ACCEPT_KEYWORDS="~amd64"
unmasks the testing branch. If that's the way it's always been then, well, maybe the hard masks on those packages were just recently removed. It appears that Portage and emerge are behaving normally.
