This question comes up a lot in fora (especially wrt USB drives) and I have seen several answers

1. Unplug/Plug the devices (for USB) and run:
Code:
dmesg

2. If you run udev:
Code:
ls  /dev/disk/by-id/ -l

The best way I have discovered to get this info is to run:

Code:
lsblk -o NAME,MODEL,LABEL,FSTYPE,MOUNTPOINT

It even tells you if it is mounted.

Computer users fall into two groups:-
those that do backups
those that have never had a hard drive fail.
