Well, time to fill my quota for n00b questions, so here's a good one. I like mplayer more than xine, but for the life of my can't get it working with oss sound support or with dvd's. Both the oss USE tag and the DVD USE tag are on in make.conf, but there is no listing for an oss sound driver in the preferences in mplayer, and all I can get to work is crappy SDL sound. Any ideas? Also, I'm unable to play dvd's but can use xine for that (btw the new xine segfaults playing divx files, so mplayer is a must).

Do you have DVD or dvd in your USE ?
There might be a difference. I compiled mplayer
with 'dvd', and it works fine. |
