Error:

Code:
 * Last context: tclhash.c/242 []
* Please REPORT this BUG!
* Check doc/BUG-REPORT on how to do so.
Segmentation fault

Code:
R   ~] net-irc/eggdrop-1.6.21  USE="-debug -mysql -postgres ssl -static -vanilla

Code:
*  dev-lang/tcl
      Latest version available: 8.5.11-r1
      Latest version installed: 8.5.11-r1

And as far as i read somewhere it was fixed for 1.6.20 by a gentoo package maintainer if i am not mistaken but now seems to be around again.
Any ideas ?

It is not clear if the package having problems is eggdrop or tcl. Also, it's not clear if you have this problem when running the program or when emerging it. You shold post more error lines, too.

Other things: Have you read doc/BUG-REPORT? You can also try reading http://www.gentoo.org/proj/en/qa/backtraces.xml.

Anyway I also found this: https://bugs.gentoo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=55704 (don't know if it's useful though).

Segmentation fault

The eggdrop starts; tries to connect and segmentation fault happens.

There seems to be some light about it as well as a fix for gentoo.

I just hit this bug, and filed a bugreport on the gentoo bugtracking tool :

eggdrop crash after upgrading to tcl-8.5.10-r1

1.6.21 is already available on gentoo :
http://packages.gentoo.org/package/net-irc/eggdrop
but still marked as unstable.

if anyone hit the problem on gentoo , 2 solutions :

* downgrade tcl to dev-lang/tcl-8.5.9 for eggdrop-1.6.19
* unmask the "unstable" eggdrop-1.6.21

feel free to post on the gentoo bugreport to have the package maintainers bump the stable version to eggdrop-1.6.21

However i have another box with gentoo and the same tcl and eggdrop versions working. The only difference is the cpu arch which is 64bit atom and this one is 32bit celeron
The config file is very much the same used on another fully working eggdrop. I also tried with dev-lang/tcl-8.5.11-r1 and the problem remained.

Manually compiling the same eggdrop version solves the problem.
This topic is [SOLVED]
