| For cheap food, as a starving student, we used to feed at the Hari Chrisna restaurant in Perth. Was quite yummy. Canteens are evil though, all those bain-maries full of bubble and squeak type meals. Ewww. |

Because the employer isn't subsidizing it for everyone, just employees. Also, non-employees aren't allowed access (most companies having such facilities also have security to keep out the riffraff). At least here.

the student union operated the cafeteria at my uni, as well as the student pub and student radio station.

Yes. Which is fine if you are at Uni at the time. This was a place to eat elsewhere. |
