Screenbrightness in KDE 4.9.2

Since the update to 4.9.2 KDE is no longer retaining a low/adjusted screen brightness. Every now and then it returns to full brightness.

Is this a known issue and even related per se to KDE?

I'm experiencing the same thing in KDE 4.9.2. I'm using the gentoo-sources-3.6.1 kernel. I don't know whether it's a KDE issue or a kernel issue.
