my laptop toshiba C855D has above shown cpu and mem.
i have installed stage3 i686
would it matter with 64 bit processor cores?
how do i make.conf correctly?
the system works ok with lxde installed.
will it become faster if i install amd64 stage3?
also i am not able to install correct xf86-video-ati
now if display changed to alt F1 sometimes i get blank screen
some guidance required

No, it is an interpretation of some windows tool, how the system is configured.

You can run 32bit on a 64bit processor.

by now you should know, that there is not one single correct solution to that question. what do you need? what is the primary task of the system?
post the your current make.conf.

it may or may not. but it would be able to use all (or more) memory.

error message, build.log and emerge --info.

MAKEOPTS="-j3"
dmesg says it finds 2 cpus
but it does not look like it uses 2 cores for emerge packages. it takes time as single cpu
is there anything more to be done to use the 2 cores of the cpu? like distcc

Optimal setting indeed if you are running a CFSized kernel !

On a side note, isn't the fact that it is the optimal setting for a 2 cores cpu the ultimate proof that...
CFS is... suboptimal ! :lol:
