PostPosted: Fri Oct 05, 2012 11:51 pm    Post subject: telepathy-salut-0.8.0 fails to emerge (Solved) Reply with quote

I just tried to do an "emerge --newuse --deep --update world" and net-voip/telepathy-salut-0.8.0 is failing to emerge. The attached snippet of code seems to build libsalut-plugins-0.8.0.so and in the next step fails to find libsalut-plugins.so when it links the next step. I don't know how to correct the problem.

A snippet of the emerge step follows:

    /bin/sh ../libtool --tag=CC --mode=link x86_64-pc-linux-gnu-gcc -std=gnu99 -I .. -I .. -I ../lib -I ../lib -I ../salut -DG_LOG_DOMAIN=\"salut\" -DPLUGIN_DIR=\"/usr/lib64/telepathy/salut-0/plugins\" -Wall -Wextra -Wdeclaration-after-statement -Wshadow -Wstrict-prototypes -Wmissing-prototypes -Wsign-compare -Wnested-externs -Wpointer-arith -Wformat-security -Winit-self -Wno-missing-field-initializers -Wno-unused-parameter -I/usr/include/libxml2 -pthread -I/usr/include/glib-2.0 -I/usr/lib64/glib-2.0/include -pthread -I/usr/include/gio-unix-2.0/ -I/usr/include/glib-2.0 -I/usr/lib64/glib-2.0/include -pthread -I/usr/include/glib-2.0 -I/usr/lib64/glib-2.0/include -I/var/tmp/portage/net-voip/telepathy-salut-0.8.0/work/telepathy-salut-0.8.0/lib/ext/wocky -I/var/tmp/portage/net-voip/telepathy-salut-0.8.0/work/telepathy-salut-0.8.0/lib/ext/wocky/wocky -I/usr/include/dbus-1.0 -I/usr/lib64/dbus-1.0/include -I/usr/include/glib-2.0 -I/usr/lib64/glib-2.0/include -pthread -I/usr/include/telepathy-1.0 -I/usr/include/dbus-1.0 -I/usr/lib64/dbus-1.0/include -I/usr/include/glib-2.0 -I/usr/lib64/glib-2.0/include -I/usr/include/uuid -pthread -I/usr/include/libsoup-2.4 -I/usr/include/libxml2 -I/usr/include/glib-2.0 -I/usr/lib64/glib-2.0/include -pthread -I/usr/include/gio-unix-2.0/ -I/usr/include/glib-2.0 -I/usr/lib64/glib-2.0/include -D_REENTRANT -I/usr/include/glib-2.0 -I/usr/lib64/glib-2.0/include -O2 -pipe -export-dynamic -Wl,-O1 -Wl,--as-needed -o telepathy-salut salut.o libsalut-convenience.la ../lib/gibber/libgibber.la ../extensions/libsalut-extensions.la -ltelepathy-glib

That error could indicate that the build system attempted to use a library before construction of the library completed. Does the package build with MAKEOPTS=-j1? If yes, please file a bug to have the ebuild force -j1 and please inform upstream that their build system is not properly parallel safe.

Doing an "MAKEOPTS="-j1" emerge telepathy-salut" did fix it!

Now I'll have to figure out how to do the bug report.

Thanks for your help.

Thank you for this - it took a long while for find this answer... Didnt get ogmrip to build because -j9, it did compile but with -j1 just fine.
