|
|
At the moment when Linux boots, the system defaults to the console. So I am using the console username/password login process. I have to manually start the X server using the command startx from the console. I read through the X installation guide, but I either overlooked or didn't see how to change from a console login screen to a GUI login screen and having X automatically start when Linux boots.
Any help or direction to achieving this step would be great!
Thanks! |

# rc-update add xdm
and edit /etc/conf.d/xdm to have DISPLAYMANAGER set to what you want to use (gdm kdm etc) |

| One last question (I think).. I got XDM working, but when I log in there is an xconsole window that displays. How do I stop that from running? |
