|

I think this started happening with the recent Gimp upgrade. I can no longer save files in any extension other than xcf. I tried to re-emerge it and check for any lib issues with revdep-rebuild, but I'm still not sure what's causing it.

It's normal and the new default. For everything not xcf, ie jpeg, use File->Export. _________________ ++++++++++[>+++++++>++++++++++>+++>+<<<<-]>++.>+.+++++++..+++.>++.<<+++++++++++++++.>.+++.------.--------.>+.>. |

I swear, I think this is the dumbest thing they've ever done in Gimp. I've wasted so much time already doing the annoying saving procedure. |

You'll get used to it pretty fast, most people since it came out have adjusted to it quite fine. I'm not sure why people use those menus anyway, it's much quicker to ctrl+s (now ctrl+e to export) then clicking through file menus. |

I read somewhere, that a plugin is floating around bringing the old behaviour back, might want to google that. _________________ ++++++++++[>+++++++>++++++++++>+++>+<<<<-]>++.>+.+++++++..+++.>++.<<+++++++++++++++.>.+++.------.--------.>+.>. |

Yeah I may have to go the route of using the plugin. I already use the keyboard shortcuts but this is still annoying as hell. I used to go through 100 images in 20 min without problems and now I'm stuck sitting there pressing useless buttons. I still think it was an extremely dumb move by the gimp developers. If someone loses their work because they didn't save it in xcf then it's their problem, we shouldn't have to waste more time to compensate for that. |

I use to think so, but after reading a blog on the reasoning (since it was quite controversial) I actually agree with the decision _________________
