Meh. They've finally forced the fugly replacement interface for gmail. Now I've got to look for a client or alternative service that uses the 'conversation' model.

You can still load the basic html version and make it default. Although I do like the cozy setting with the eggplant theme |

How? I've been 'reverting' for quite a while now, but I no longer see that option.
Cozy, Compact, Comfortable, doesn't seem to make a difference.

Oh, _that_ basic HTML. I'm using it now, and it is worse than the good gmail interface, but so far better than the New Coke. I don't see myself being able to use it for long though... it's going to force me to find something else. Google.die.die.die.

You could enable pop/smtp access to your account and use a email client instead.

I haven't looked for a client which does 'conversations.' I tried Tbird a while back, and it wanted to download thousands of spam messages, so I didn't quite set that up correctly. Not sure how well it recognizes labels.

It recognizes the labels as folders and they show up in your list of mailboxes. Tbird works pretty well with gmail/IMAP.

How did you get it to not download spam? I'm assuming it doesn't download trash.

You can set it up to load gmail's trash, but it definitely doesn't download gmail's spam folder by default. You can also set which folders will be visible in an IMAP/POP connection by going to you gmail's settings.

Thanks, I'll check it out. I didn't set anything specific, so maybe it was the Trash it was downloading.
