i successfully installed gentoo on my desktop.
however, when i boot, before it even starts actually booting (still detecting devices) all the lines get a green color, and all the letters change white accordingly. and it just stops there. i don't know what to do about or what i did wrong, but of course its some kernel option.
i'm sorry i can't be more specific atm, i'm installing stuff on my laptop as is (skype) after that i can put her back on a kernel that supports KMS which will enable my KDE, so i'll have a nice gui and i'll be able to give you specific details on where exactly it stops and does this, but i think (for now) it was on some ACPI thing.
Everything turns green after i saw something that looked like nvidiaFB or something like that, i figured it was a framebuffer problem. but what...
---
Troublesome... if you take a look at this and don't have a clue, theres another problem i'm having, alsaconf or whatever that command was didn't help me detect and select my default audio drivers (on my laptop) and my USB headphones are not being detected (nor when i plug them into the intergrated sound card as normal ones) https://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic-p-7149158.html#7149158
My sound does work to some extent, but i cannot change any settings of it, and making my microphone work is the biggest obstacle right now for me to be bale to do everything in my computer i use it for. but the crappy internal mic is working,..

Code: | In-kernel firmware blobs are enabled

<M>Direct Rendering Manager --->
<M> Nouveau (nVidia) cards
(*) Support for backlight control
Support for frame buffer devices --->
(*) Enable firmware EDID
<*> nVidia Framebuffer Support
(*) Enable DDC Support
(*) Support for backlight control
Console display driver support --- >
-*- Framebuffer Console Support
-*- Map the console to the primary display device
(*) Support for the framebuffer console decorations
Power Management and ACPI options --->
(*) Suspend to RAM and standby
(*) Run-time PM core functionality
(*) ACPI Support
-*- CPU idle PM support
(*) Cpuidle Driver for intel processors

I think i listed most of the required options here, i'm trying to see if making direct rendering manager, etc * instead of M will change something... also changed nVidia Framebuffer Support to M. well that failed to just compile so i set them both to M instead.
Doing this made me load a whole lot further into the boot... then get the same problem again, so it would seem..
Now i found out i'm a total idiot, i was supposed to enable framebuffer support for nvidia riva cards... because the nvidia option is for the old riva cards... i guess that would... make sense.... (not really, but i solved it on my own! i love it when i do that) _________________ This picture was my biggest reason for ever trying Gentoo <3 |

I thought it was needed... i somehow figured i was supposed to enable the framebuffer support for my specific card after disabling all the rest of them, thanks for clarifying that _________________ This picture was my biggest reason for ever trying Gentoo <3 |

Are you using the proprio driver(nvidia) or the opensource driver(nouveau) ?
Thanks |
