I finally did it! i fixed all my errors and managed to set up the core of my operating system properly, (now all i need is programs, kde and possibly some drivers) however, just to make sure...
i get this on boot
| Code: | | WARNING: rc_sys not defined in rc.conf. Falling back to automatic detection |
I haven't let it bother me so far, but now that its the last thing... i want to know what this means, and whether i should use set rc_sys="something" (if so, then what? i'm running amd64 version of gentoo... should i put "x86_64" ?)
so yes, i just want to know what this is, whether its something i should be concerned about, and how to fix it.

| The options are under "# LINUX SPECIFIC OPTIONS" in /etc/rc.conf. You can leave it blank, but uncomment it. |

No. If you look at the list of valid options, that's not one of them.

No. If you look at the list of valid options, that's not one of them. |
about that, how do i see it? |

Does this not make sense to you? If not, what doesn't make sense? By the way, the absence of comments that warn of dire consequences pretty much guarantees that you can just make a reasonable choice (based on your limited knowledge) and move on.

I see.. thanks, i must have been blind not to see that when i commented it out. i only saw "this should be set to the value representing the environment this file is"
i don't know what any of those options is except "nothing special" and i'm guessing that because of that, its not something i wanna use for now. |
