If I want to use CUPS, am I must using USE variables when "emerge kde"?
If I haven't used USE variables when "emerge kde". Can I setup to use CUPS later?
If can, how to do it?
Thanks!! |

yes

just emerge cups.
if your printer is supported you probably can just go to localhost:631 with any webbrowser to setup your printer with cups. |

I don't know for sure but you may need to compile kde with "use cups" in order to get the printer functionality in kde's control centre. However, you can always use the cups web interface as Schmolch suggests. |

you might also want to emerge cups 1.1.14 instead of the last version (1.1.15-r2 at this time) which bugs out on some printers... _________________ Hello. |

I think it`s true to say that you DO need cups set
in the USE varaible but that this is already done
as the default setting.
If you`re having trouble using CUPS with KDE
it may simply be that you need to make sure
that CUPS starts as a service |
