Hi guys :) im new at this forum. Im installing gentoo, steb 7b. When i do emerge gentoo-sources, i get an error like ">>> Failed to emerge dev-lang/perl-5.12.4-r1" "ERROR: dev-lang/perl-5.12.4-r1 failed (configure phase).
I saw on google a few messages in this forum, but any of them worked. I correctly mounted dev and proc, and im in chroot. Any ideas?

Examine the build log. If you can not decipher it, post its content here. It should reside in /var/tmp/portage/dev-lang/perl*/temp/build.log.

from the chroot:
Code:
emerge wgetpaste
emerge gentoo-sources | wgetpaste
emerge perl | wgetpaste
emerge --info | wgetpaste
gcc-config -l | wgetpaste
wgetpaste /etc/portage/make.conf
wgetpaste /etc/make.conf

post the url's returned

adding:from chroot
Code:
wgetpaste /var/tmp/portage/dev-lang/perl*/temp/build.log
post url is the easy way

OP, use purge installation — I don't now remember how to do it with the portage because I use the paludis package manager.
And anybody tell us, why has the perl yet not died? It was ought to do it a long time ago! I'm angry. The Linux doesn't progress in the appropriate way. And it's sadly.
