|
|
hello,
my installation works flawlessly except for the file-system. it keeps mounted as read-only and i can't found the reason. neither mtab or fstab have "ro" in their params (both have noatime,rw and/or defaults,rw, both configs have been tested) and 0 0 or 0 1 (both have been tested, same result).
i see openrc says "Using mount -o ro" right after printing "mounting root". is there some other config file i might be missing?
i also tested:
- fsck on the filesystem. 100% perfect.
- remounting / with rw. it keeps saying it's write-protected
i hope someone can help. i can only modify the filesystem while using a rescue cd.
also, sorry for not pasting any console outputs. theyre on a dedicated server using only 640x480 bash.
thanks in advance. |

Check to see if the file system is listed as ro in your grub.cfg because I have had that happen before where my root filesystem was mounted ro because of an option that was passed to grub. hth |

both kernel and initrd files are listed with defaults,rw. sorry for not specifying this in the first post. |

as i said in the OP, it keeps saying its write protected.
Code: | Cannot remount block device /dev/sda2 read-write; is write-protected |
inside of a sysrescd i can use the command "boot an existing linux os installed on the disk" and there, write-read parameters are fine. just saying |

someone49,
I posted this a while back and never got a response. It's not the / partition, but it appears to exhibit the same anomaly.

I haven't yet been able to determine the cause _________________ Good luck
