I just re-installed Funtoo on my Asus Eee PC, and finally published a blog entry about my troubles and successes in doing so. (I was successful, with only a few problems.)
I thought some members of this forum might find it of interest.

I laughed my ass off while reading your blog post but I'm thinking of all the valuable work you've done. My ex- has an eeePC on which I was too shy to install Gentoo. I guess it'll be a much clearer path now. If I ever do I'll let you know.
By the way have you thought of cross-compiling? I did that for an Atom based machine (a Giada N20) and it worked pretty well. It is neither for the faint of heart for it requires a lot of tuning if you only want specific packages but in this case I think I went too far in trying to over-tune it that I ended up changing portage profiles... _________________ Gentoo addict: tomorrow I quit, I promise!... Hello,
Just giving some feedback too since i recently installed Gentoo on a EeePC 1025C and it works well so far. The only problem at install was that i had to chroot from a SystemRescueCD usb flash drive because the Gentoo minimal install cd (on the usb flash drive too) was hanging attempting to mount /dev/sda?. The first boot was ok, it occured only after partitioning /dev/sda.
I was a bit worried about the graphics with the Atom N2600 but it is ok with DRM_GMA500. |

Hello,
I am running Gentoo on an Acer Aspire One. It was a real nightmare with the original flash disk (re-al-ly sllllllllllllooooooooooooow). But with a hard disk and distcc, all is fine. I can even compile libreoffice in 6 hours (with an AMD64X2 distcc server).
My config : lxde + *Kit + NetworkManager + Firefox + LibreOffice + Music stuff + GIMP + VLC + QTCreator... _________________ Xavier Miller
