Do you have to have a version of windows installed to use wine/winex? In the config file, you have to specify your /windows and /windows/system directories.
Can you just create directories for these on an ext3 FS? |

Have a look at winesetuptk, It is an X application that helps you configure wine (or winex) rather easily.
To answer you question, no, you dont need windows installed. It is apparently possible to use certain dll's from windows, im not sure if it would work better or worse, but i am using my own virtual windows directories
I'm using ~/.winex (and ~/wine is symlinked to it), and inside that have a directory called fake_windows (which winesetuptk made for me) _________________ --
