Question: why do you care at all?
God gave those a handicap for a reason! Suffering now means less suffering in hell. Making life more bearable just increases the suffering in the afterlife. So helping this people is just wrong!
Besides, don't get these people tax cuts? _________________

Why don't you ram an ice pick about 5 cm deep into each of your ears and then come back a few months later and let us know how you like it? _________________ Oldthinkers unbellyfeel INGSOC.

that would not be a god given gift but self mutilation. God does not like that. _________________

I'm one of "these" people. If you're serious, then FU. If you're joking, it's in bad taste, so still... FU. I should report your comment as a hate message.
EDIT:
I have done so. The moderators might not do anything, even though they should, but I have done the right thing, at least. Now, if you come across a conversation about people with disabilities, you best withhold your oppressive hate messages. If you don't have anything helpful to say to or about people with disabilities, STFU!!! I DARE you to say that in a room full of deaf people, blind people, and people with other disabilities. You will NOT walk out in full health, chump. Get a clue and grow a conscience for your own good.
Suggestion for these boards: a friend/foe list so people like me don't have to see anything from a-holes like this moron. _________________ Gentoo Studio: http://gentoostudio.org

well well well. You are lucky that I was at work when I read your post. So I had some time to think about it.
I am not going to call you names, you selfrighteous p...erson
You deserve every joke and ridicule I posted. Even more in my not at all humble opinion. Why? Because of your claim that your little problem is the worst disability.
Oh really?
YOU can drive a car
YOU can move freely in trafic
YOU can use stairs
YOU can watch movies. They all come with subtitles. Most of them with multiple languages so you can use the ones that you like the most.
YOU can use the internet without any restrictions.
blind people? Watching movies? Driving? Independent movement in heavy trafic?
Yeah, thought so. You can whip your own ass. You don't need help to get something from a shelf. Unlike hundreds of thousands bound to wheel chairs. You think you got a problem, because some convenience service got a little bit less convenient? Think of a person in a wheel chair at the bottom of a long stair case.
I know an almost deaf person from work. Her professional and social life suffered as much as not at all from her disability. Yeah, she has to look in your face if you talk to her. That is really bad. I know.
I also have a close relative who is going blind. I can tell you THAT one is isolating.
You can enjoy a climb without fear of the next Grand Mal sending you down.
You can feed yourself.
And you are playing it up like you belong to the most outcast pariah caste of them all. Please, go and report this post too.
Pathetic. _________________

You know what else is horribly isolating? Alzheimer's. You've spent your whole life figuring everything out and making connections with people, and then suddenly what and and who you know start vanishing from your mind. _________________ Oldthinkers unbellyfeel INGSOC.

Energyman, you sound very bitter and angry. You clearly have not even read my previous posts, in which I made it unambiguous that it's always my first choice to reach out to and embrace other people with disabilities as brothers and sisters in solidarity. So your last post made no contextual sense whatsoever. You made an unmistakably bigoted comment, to which, as a member of the demographic against which you spewed hate, I responded appropriately. You then proceed to rant as if your entire purpose was to seek conflict - any conflict - rather than to make any particular point.
I am therefore going to bid you peace, and hope you find happiness in life, and that someday you do not find yourself in a position of needing help from someone who can provide it, but won't, because of the way you've offended so many people so openly with views that do not belong in enlightened society.
Good luck to you. I say that very sincerely. Good-bye. _________________ Gentoo Studio: http://gentoostudio.org

The discussion of the impact disabilities can have is worthy, though the impetus isn't exactly a shining moment. Let's not degrade. _________________ lolgov. 'cause where we're going, you don't have civil liberties.

I think energyman76b is a matter-of-fact, practical person, who doesn't like whining. We all should respect that.
Unless someone finds a thread where he has whined here in OTW, some long time before, my post stays valid. _________________ What looks like a cat, flies like a bat, brays like a donkey, and plays like a monkey? |

I'm assuming he also not physically (notice that I didn't say emotionally or mentally) handicapped. _________________ If I had a dollar for every time capitalism was blamed for the problems caused by government, I'd be a fat filmmaker with a baseball cap |

So you mean you thought before writing ?
And your post reflects the deepest profundity your thinking can reach ?
What sort of disability do you personally endure that makes you incapable of thinking farther than the edge of your nose ?

What level of ridicule does whoever capable of writing this after having thought, deserve ?
What if the worst disability ever for anyone who does not care a damn of X, Y, Z but just loves enjoying T ?
The disability which would prevent him from enjoying T ! Period ! Of course !
Is your understanding so completely disabled that you cannot comprehend that :
Driving a car, moving in trafic, using stairs... are... ways to manage contingencies when listening music is a pleasure ?
- What does happen to those facing difficulties in managing contingencies ? Their life is : Difficult !
- What does happen to those incapable of enjoying their favourite pleasure ? Their life is : Unhappy !
I will not pronounce any value judgement about those of would apparently live an unhappy-easy life but I would certainly pronounce one about those who cannot understand that people preferring a Difficult-happy life do exist.

How can you dare writing that you know somebody ?
Considering your more than obvious incapability to think outside of your personnal affects, I mean.
Of course one will find tons of exceptions but a couple of serious studies have been made regarding the social impact of disabilities.
An interesting one :
Deaf persons tend to isolate themselves more than others !
Why ?
Because when, in a group, someone tells some joke, whoever is deaf will not hear it but will see everyone else around laughing.
Everyone... but himself. _________________ In theory there are no differences between theory and practice. In practice, there are.
Don't try to understand my posts. Immanuel Kant never did, he thinks that only music and laughter do not have to mean anything. |

I don't think he has trouble reaching beyond his nose. I DO think he finds it impossible to touch his toes and has difficulty tying his shoes, climbing a flight of stairs, and wiping his ass. So, in all fairness, he does know a little bit about disability, albeit not as much as a deaf person. _________________ Oldthinkers unbellyfeel INGSOC.
