The movie.
Edit: that probably wasn't enough information. It's like an OTW thread. U.S. haters and liberals will love it (it mostly gives the liberal assholes a pass) but it's funny regardless of your views.
Plot summary:
Middle-aged office worker Frank is getting really fed up with all the assholes in his world and the downward spiral of society. His neighbors are annoying lemming morons, he's divorced and his daughter is a spoiled brat, his co-workers are shallow, media-engrossed idiots. He loses his job for "sexually harassing" the receptionist, who always smiles at him and apparently flirts with him. HIs doctor tells him he's got a brain tumor. That's the final straw.
Instead of killing himself, he decides to rid the world of some of its biggest assholes, mostly people he's seen on TV, and some he just happens to encounter.
As a taste, this is a conversation he has with a co-worker shortly before he finds out he is fired:
| Quote: | Frank: Oh, I get, and I am offended. Not because I've got a problem with bitter, predictable, whiny, millionaire disk jockeys complaining about celebrities or how tough their life is, while I live in an apartment with paper-thin walls next to a couple of Neanderthals who, instead of a baby, decided to give birth to some kind of nocturnal civil defense air-raid siren that goes off every fuckin' night like it's Pearl Harbor. I'm not offended that they act like it's my responsibility to protect their rights to pick on the weak like pack animals, or that we're supposed to support their freedom of speech when they don't give a fuck about yours or mine.
Office Worker: So, you're against free speech now? That's in the Bill of Rights, man.
Frank: I would defend their freedom of speech if I thought it was in jeopardy. I would defend their freedom of speech to tell uninspired, bigoted, blowjob, gay-bashing, racist and rape jokes all under the guise of being edgy, but that's not the edge. That's what sells. They couldn't possibly pander any harder or be more commercially mainstream, because this is the "Oh no, you didn't say that!" generation, where a shocking comment has more weight than the truth. No one has any shame anymore, and we're supposed to celebrate it. I saw a woman throw a used tampon at another woman last night on network television, a network that bills itself as "Today's Woman's Channel". Kids beat each other blind and post it on Youtube. I mean, do you remember when eating rats and maggots on Survivor was shocking? It all seems so quaint now. I'm sure the girls from "2 Girls 1 Cup" are gonna have their own dating show on VH-1 any day now. I mean, why have a civilization anymore if we no longer are interested in being civilized? |

I laughed out loud several times while watching it. It's not a great movie, but it's good, and the message is an excellent one (a bit of liberal bias notwithstanding). _________________ Oldthinkers unbellyfeel INGSOC.

Why make a movie when life is so much more entertaining. There has to be a real shooting happening somewhere in the USA. Someone got to be on a mission. |

Whatever it is these names have in common, it is not the European Union.
Maybe these people watched too many US American movies. That MPAA stuff makes people sick. |

Spain is the biggest mass-murderer in human history, by far. Probably by an order of magnitude. Think what they would do with modern weaponry and a reinvigorated gene pool. _________________ Oldthinkers unbellyfeel INGSOC.

that americans can't shoot? even with all those weapons around them? Pretty pathetic if you ask me. _________________

Yeah, that's it. The Eurofappers in this thread will really enjoy it. _________________ Oldthinkers unbellyfeel INGSOC.

| I caught this on Netflix and I'm about 1/3 through. Erm, is it bad if I identify with the protagonist? |

The Americans obviously threw the game at the last minute, to make a bundle on secret bets. _________________ Oldthinkers unbellyfeel INGSOC.

Obama phoned them at the last minute and told them to lose to the Europeans, saying that beating them would hurt his chances for re-election, and that he'd make it up to them after the election, when he'll have more flexibility. _________________ Oldthinkers unbellyfeel INGSOC.
