Free speech? Yes please, but only if you have something nice to say about us.

I wonder if this could be enforced somehow - not really I guess. _________________ Kali Ma

What's messed up is that the contractor hired to provide security has come back and said, "we can't handle it". They couldn't recruit enough people, they say. So they are going to have to use the military. _________________ Oldthinkers unbellyfeel INGSOC.

The London Olympics are a farce. A great sporting event has been turned into a horrific marketing exercise which has sucked all the life out of it. I refuse to have anything to do with it.
The private security failure is just the first of many privatisation nightmares to come in the UK with the Tory drive to commodify various public services, driving down working conditions, pay, standards, and outcomes. Government ministers can absolve themselves of all public accountability for failures in provision and their business-class chums will make millions off the backs of ordinary people, circling the plug-hole. _________________ the underlay overlay |

funny given that unemployment is higher than normal. | thing is they have enough applicants (they needed 10,000, they aimed for 14,000, they shortlisted 50,000 out of a large number of applicants...) they just have shite final interview and training _________________ A free press is the unsleeping guardian of every other right that free men prize; it is the most dangerous foe of tyranny. The Thatcher government blocked an Olympic bid IIRC -which given costs was a wise move, also the company concerned
is now fifty million or so out of pocket. _________________ When you break rules, break 'em good and hard |

That's how you know the problem is not "the free market" but some artificiality of government contracting. For example, the selection of cronies who aren't really up to the job.
That's not "free market", my friend. _________________ Oldthinkers unbellyfeel INGSOC.
