Hi Gentoo developers,
I have been using a python module for statistics called Pandas. Such module is extremely useful for data statistics analysis with modules like scipy, numpy, matplot and others. I've got an old Pandas ebuild from Donnie Berkholz's personnel overlay (gentoo developer), however Pandas has considerably improved in the last year. Don't know why such module is out of the portage and what is needed for some package to be eligible to enter the official portage tree. I think that such modules might be of other's users interest end don't know who or which herd should I contact to put this request through. So, I would like to ask you guys to pass the message along to gentoo-dev people.
Thanks in advance,
Fred

What you should do is this: Go to bugs.gentoo.org and search for an ebuild request for the package. If you cannot find one, file a new bug requesting the package.

From experience it helps immensely if you put some work into polishing the ebuild and attach it to the bug.

There were a Pandas' entry in Gentoo's bugzilla until your post, at least. I have issued some comments on it, however, I can't find it anymore.
I'm puzzled... Such a nice package with no maintainers.

Yep!
I'm sorry. Indeed, it entered in the portage in May 08.
