Hi everyone,

I'm new to gentoo. I've decided to try it on my old ibook G4 14" to get more performance out of it. The installation went OK and I've booted into the system and emerged some tools to work on the console. It's when I try to emerge X that I get an error:

Code:

/var/tmp/portage/x11-base/xorg-server-1.11.2-r2/work/xorg-server-1.11.2/hw/xfree86/os-support/linux/lnx_video.c: In function 'unmapVidMem':

`/var/tmp/portage/x11-base/xorg-server-1.11.2-r2/work/xorg-server-1.11.2_build/hw'
make: *** [all-recursive] Erro 1

And the corresponding emerge --info gives this output:

I've found this post that says this is a ppc problem but I have no clue about the link. What should I do?

I finally got it working just asking portage to install a previous version. After building it crashes anyway, so...

Yeah, I just put in the package.use file the line: "<xorg-server-vXX-X-rX" (I can't remember the number now) so it automatically tries to emerge the versions before the one that gave me trouble.
