Ron Paul has already won
Author seems a little dreamy for Paul, but there is some truth in it. I'm not convinced it is as significant as the author believes. _________________ lolgov. 'cause where we're going, you don't have civil liberties.

Kinda like jesus "won" even after being pwned. Racist Ron's supporters are such deluded cultists. _________________ At some stage, the Hindus locked on to the nation destroying concepts like ahimsa (non-violence), shanti (peace), satya (truth) — the ‘ass’ syndrome. |

While I agree with Dr. Paul's domestic agenda, too many of his supporters fit your definition. _________________ If I had a dollar for every time capitalism was blamed for the problems caused by government, I'd be a fat filmmaker with a baseball cap |

While I agree with Dr. Paul's domestic agenda, too many of his supporters fit your definition. | It's actually the cultist behaviour of his supporters that I object to more than his policies. While I do not agree with a lot of his politics, he and his supporters are perfectly entitled to them and my approval of them is irrelevant.
What is annoying is the messiah-like worship of him and the implication that if you don't like him, you must be some kind of evil freedom-hating villain. _________________ At some stage, the Hindus locked on to the nation destroying concepts like ahimsa (non-violence), shanti (peace), satya (truth) — the ‘ass’ syndrome. |

when all the rest of the candidates are authoritarians, then yes, opposition = freedom-hating villains. |

Because people, attitudes, social norms, tradition, religion, literacy, etc are exactly the same in Somalia and the US. Clearly the only difference is the police force, so eliminating it will instantly turn the US into Somalia. _________________ Your argument is invalid. |

This is an off-tangent comment but an observation that could be relevant.
I often wonder why some countries are more developed than others. What is it that they did, other's haven't. I see a fundamental condition for a country to be successful. It is sincerity, which comes from honestly believing what you erm... believe. _________________ What looks like a cat, flies like a bat, brays like a donkey, and plays like a monkey? |

I can live with my neighbor saying "I don't like you guys from Balkans, you are too loud and macho, and you suck at fine civilization stuff". It is a stereotype and generalisation, but there is a truth to it as well, we have been at war with someone, for someone or among ourselves since roman times (probably even before, tho nobody recorded it back then). So I don't mind that. It sucks if you start another career path, but it can be overcome.
However, fucked up government, skinning you alive, enslaving you, and devaluating anything you do or acquire, that is a bigger issue.
But to each his own. |

It's funny listening to energyman76b "complain" about somebody being racist.
On the original point, I do think Ron Paul has had a positive impact, perhaps most importantly, on young people. _________________ Oldthinkers unbellyfeel INGSOC.

Weak troll is weak. From wiki, "American exceptionalism is the theory that the United States has a specific world mission to spread liberty and democracy." Obviously I am making no such argument. Not a convincing troll, rws. I expect better of you. _________________ Your argument is invalid. |

Your argument is similar in that the USA is unlikely to fall into the same kind of situation as present-day Somalia because it is "different" ("exceptional" since it is "too awesome" to regress into barbarity like other countries in the absence of government enforced law-and-order). _________________ At some stage, the Hindus locked on to the nation destroying concepts like ahimsa (non-violence), shanti (peace), satya (truth) — the ‘ass’ syndrome. |

I never said anything about US being "awesome," just that it is not the same as Somalia. No one can deny that. Somalia was a violent, brutish place even when they had police. It's an idiotic comparison between dissimilar people and culture. _________________ Your argument is invalid. |

I of course disagree with you wrt to police, but I am sure you would say the same of any country with similar culture to the US (i.e. most western democracies). clearly, the difference between any of them and somalia is more than the police. |

Unlike most Western democracies, Somalia was colonized by the Italians, so what do you expect? _________________ Oldthinkers unbellyfeel INGSOC.

Romans != Italians
