Force India won a token award over minor intellectual property theft and was then hammered in the ass for the legal costs which Team Caterham and Aerolab incurred defending themselves against Force India's largely spurious claims.

So, overall, I'd have to say Force India won a very minor victory but had most of their claims rubbed in their face. The net effect of Force India's "victory" was to punish them severely for making a big deal out of it.

I say this being unfamiliar with the issue and going just of what is said in this article (which is a BBC article).

The intellectual property claim, as the judge(?) noted, contributed to design advancements in Caterham team. So, why was the award token?

Edit: I'm unfamiliar with the issue too and nothing made sense from the article.
