The United States military has killed far more innocent civilians (including the peaceful natives who were here first and were willing to coexist)

As usual, this entire demographic was ignored even when they were explicitly mentioned.

Vietnam war:
Vietnamese civilian dead: 411,000[6] – 4,000,000[16]
Cambodian civilian dead: 200,000 – 300,000*[17][18][19]
Laotian civilian dead: ~20,000 – 200,000*
Total civilian dead: – 631,000 – 4,500,000
Total dead: – 5,397,819[7]

Now add these numbers:

http://wiki.answers.com/Q/How_many_Native_Americans_were_killed_by_the_US_government

And don't forget the more recent "wars" in the Middle East.

The total number of innocent civilian deaths caused by the U.S. armed forces is staggering. IF our species ever evolves beyond brain-stem activity, history books will certainly point this out.

audiodef, you're making the same mistake that energyman made by including those civilians killed by the opponents of the US military during war. It would be like me counting every single death in WW2 and placing the blame on the Australian military.

he's being conservative in his estimate.

say, 10 million over the last 70 years?

Exactly. Also, many of these estimates are about as accurate as the one recently made by in Iraq (an estimate of 1,000,000 excess deaths, by several human rights organizations, which turned out to be only about 100,000 when they actually used empirical methods).

Germany killed more in World War II alone. The Communists have killed a billion. Moreover, Europeans have been killing everybody on the planet pretty much non-stop, including each other, for the last 3,000 years. I wonder what that number would add up to?

Deaths caused by the U.S. military are a drop in the bucket.

[sarcasm]Buzzkill!! Sheesh, this turned into more a thread of sensationalism than reason, fall in line![/sarcasm]

Seriously though, isn't the information in the OP enough to talk about? It's bad enough without trying to invent more.

that doesn't make these actions moral, just less ethical.
