jontheil,
I've has some excitement with two dead drives in an 8Tb raid5 array, so I've been busy too.
The data at risk was 1200 DVDs and I still have the originals, so it would 'only' have been re ripping them. _________________ Regards,

those that do backups
those that have never had a hard drive fail. |

I am male. So I don't worry about backups.
No, that's not true. But those years ago, I was convinced that having a RAID 5 should minimize the risk of data loss. Since then, I have learned a lot. For instance that relying on a semi-hardware RAID controller is not a very good idea. And it can happen that three disk can fail at the same time.
While I might think that I was actually not very clever, it doesn't make me feel much better knowing that other people might have even bigger troubles. So I hope for the best for everyone struggling with dead drives..!
I will have a look at my own data again soon. And any idea is most welcome.
Best regards,
