This is such bullshit. We need to assess the ecological impacts this sort of thing may have on the asteroids!

This is a private sector venture. If they want to waste the money, it's on them. |

Where did I say money? I said energy. I know the Fed is printing a hell of a lot of it, but burning dollar bills don't get you into orbit. _________________

The rocket fuel in question being liquid hydrogen, and guess how that's manufactured, burning gas, lots of it. _________________

You don't 'need' gas to get hydrogen. You could use electrolysis. _________________ If I had a dollar for every time capitalism was blamed for the problems caused by government, I'd be a fat filmmaker with a baseball cap |

Gas, and other hydrocarbons.

Sure. But this isn't science, it's mining free-floating rocks. _________________

Electrolysis is cool. But it also consumes a *lot* of electricity. Most of which is still generated by dead fossily things. Electrolysis is less efficient than simply burning gas, too. _________________

If you are interested in future space exploration strategy, This 45 minute video is very interesting, and is all about making or storing fuel at each new destination. _________________ I am not young enough to know everything.

I love that song. Driving late at night, I roll the windows down, and blast it.
At least I didn't post a 45 minute educational video. What is this, a rain day? |

Actually, it's been a beautiful day, sunny and mid 70's. Did a double header earlier. I've had that video bookmarked for a long time now. It is very interesting if you are interested in that stuff. _________________ I am not young enough to know everything.
