Where did I say money? I said energy. I know the Fed is printing a hell of a lot of it, but burning dollar bills don't get you into orbit.

I think that has yet to be determined. What energy are we in short enough supply that would impact THIS venture? Isn't the purpose of science to learn?

You don't 'need' gas to get hydrogen. You could use electrolysis.

Electrolysis is cool. But it also consumes a *lot* of electricity. Most of which is still generated by dead fossily things. Electrolysis is less efficient than simply burning gas, too.

Actually, it's been a beautiful day, sunny and mid 70's. Did a double header earlier. I've had that video bookmarked for a long time now. It is very interesting if you are interested in that stuff.

And since it has never been done, surely we'll learn something in the process. And if it turns out to be economically feasible, wouldn't it be better to rape-mine asteroids than the earth?
