I was under the impression that all I7's and up had a hardware random number generator on chip. But when I try to modprobe intel_rng I get
| Code: | | FATAL: Error inserting intel_rng (/lib/module/3.2.12-gentoo/kernel/drivers/char/hw_random/intel-rng.ko): No such device |
To be more specific I have an Intel i7-2630QM on a C200 chipset was I mistaken int thinking that this hardware is equipped with a hw_rng or is something else wrong? |

Another RNG tech for core i7 is the RDRAND instruction, it's available to Ivy bridge or later. |
