2nd gen i7 mobile doesn't have Intel HW_RNG?

I was under the impression that all I7's and up had a hardware random number generator on chip. But when I try to modprobe intel_rng I get
Code:
FATAL: Error inserting intel_rng (/lib/module/3.2.12-gentoo/kernel/drivers/char/hw_random/intel-rng.ko): No such device

To be more specific I have an Intel i7-2630QM on a C200 chipset was I mistaken int thinking that this hardware is equipped with a hw_rng or is something else wrong?

Is anything written to dmesg when this fails?

Another RNG tech for core i7 is the RDRAND instruction, it's available to Ivy bridge or later.
