Hello,

I made my /boot partition ext4, but I notice most people use ext2. Why is this, why not use ext4? Ext4 doesn't cause any issues, so why not use it?

Ext4 is mature enough that it's fine for a boot partition.

But Ext2 is still a perfectly valid choice for a simple, stable, rock-solid file system.

Due to the infrequent, light usage of the boot partition, the boot partition won't enjoy as many benefits from the new capabilities in Ext4.

About the only Ext4 feature that would be useful in a boot partition is the ability to skip the periodic Ext2 fsck on boot. But the boot partition is usually small enough the the fsck isn't a big issue.

Ext4 can very well be used for a /boot partition.
The downside is also that you'll certainly loose some space due to the journal.

You can use ext4 without journal
Code:
mkfs.ext4 -O ^has_journal

Yeah, but I have already setup my /boot the way I want it, and it is working fine so i am going to leave it alone for now. Thank you for the tip however!

hello,

take a look here:
http://kernelnewbies.org/Ext4
http://www.kernel.org/doc/Documentation/filesystems/ext4.txt
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ext4

If there is something about Ext4 that you want to know and is not covered in the above materials, feel free to ask.
