http://ompldr.org/vZDgxdQ enjoy it while you can, that is life | Yeah, sure, everyone can whip up that icon, IIRC I've already seen it some time ago. Bet it's just a bad joke, linking to the handbook - if that's the case, that would actually be quite lame, we already had that installer joke already a few years ago. _________________ ++++++++++[>+++++++>++++++++++>+++>+<<<<-]>++.>+.+++++++..+++.>++.<<+++++++++++++++.>.+++.------.--------.>+.>. |

It isn't, clicking the icon generates a pop up informing the user that they are the wizard. Ok, I saw this thread before I downloaded the iso & half expected an april fool prank, and on an unmetered fast connection, a 3gb+ download is inconsequential to me personally. Apart from it being a waste of time, I'm sure the operators of the mirrors wouldn't appreciate folks downloading this for nothing, thinking there is an installer, it's just a waste.
I don't want to get into a debate on whether an actual installer should be included for gentoo, I was interested in trying it out on a spare pc if there was one. |

Indeed. I was told that the DVD at least contains updated packages, so the download isn't completely worthless. Still, the contributors making this DVD should pay a little attention to these things and how they affect the public image of the project before implementing yet more pranks. _________________ I am Confuism. The icon will be deleted by the livedvd after april 1th, so get over yourself april fool and just follow the handbook like everyone else. |

You obviously missed the bit about me half expecting it being an april fool prank. Removing the icon won't remove the erroneous info duplicated to other sites across the internet claiming this dvd has an install wizard. It's not a good advert for gentoo, nor is the attitude of your response. |

Thanks all for your reples.
I have tried to download bits of the install from the net, as per the handbook, and keep getting only part files.
Or download times measured in days.
Much as I like what I see on the 12 dvd, the frustration forced me to give up.
Well mainly. Not having usb modems mentioned in the handbook has not helped either.. |

Nah, idiotic pranks on installation media means I will just avoid that distribution. I am way past 15 years old. |

I think the first place I saw anything about this was via IRC, when someone mentioned it was in the news at Phoronix.
Certainly amusing, and the most hilarious part of it probably was/is the "requires a Linux-supported webcam for interaction".
Really a good one, as I mentioned @ IRC already.
