I think French is the nicest-sounding language I've heard (best to hear it from a distance though, because of the personal hygiene thing).

a) every language sounds nice if spoken by a hot girl (with the exception of italian)
b) as an english speaker you are infected with a very, very dangerous meme. Its syndrome manifests in thinking that french is a nice language and results in broken spelling and idiotic pronounciation. Just look at england. They got a bad outbreak a long time ago. Also pussification will set in after a few decades. So be careful!

"a)" can't be emphasized enough. I personally find french to be the worst sounding language. Spanish second. After that, it really doesn't matter to me (see "a" - though I don't have the Italian bias.).

Well, I'm back to the Pacific Northwest, Land of the Prius.

And the rain.

Let me tell you. Houston drivers are worse than Bostonians. Someone needs to inform them that the little stick thingy on the left hand side of the steering column is called a turn signal indicator. I was in heaven with all of those Ford pickups. At least they know a quality truck!

I am a small town guy, yet have lived near many large metro areas including Boston, New York, Minneapolis, and Portland, yet not even LA, with it's vaunted freeway system can hold a candle to the multi lane, three deck high monstrosities in Houston. I didn't think there was that much concrete in the freakin world! They have to dig huge holes in the ground as holding ponds just for the rain runoff. Nice skyline, the Galleria District was nice, some great food, every ethnicity you could think of, with some super fine Indian establishments. Tried alligator. It probably would have tasted better if I didn't know what I was eating. Went down to Kemah to T-Bone Tom's, where I had the best rib-eye steak in my entire life!

Didn't see a single Prius the entire time.

impossible to tell without pics of the speakers.
also: every language that claims to be cultural 'neutral' is broken at best. Worse: using it would result in death of culture and identity.

I live in the Galleria area for a reason ;)
Shoulda asked me for the food spots and watering holes, we just had a few 2nd cousins come into town and they all left a few pounds heavier.
The Indian food here is...passable.
The tex-mex and steaks are the hallmark. Strangely there arent many particularly good barbecue joints in Houston, have to go at least to the outskirts.

remember the name of the joint? Pappadeaux has it, and I *think* Bayou City has it.
There's a cajun meat shop 2 miles from my place that sells it for you to cook yourself - http://www.hebertsmeats.com/asccustompages/categories.asp?categoryID=15

My city aint much to look at, but hopefully you at least left a bit fatter.

I had the alligator at a joint called Floyd's, outside of Beaumont.

Alligator is like a cross between chicken and a white fish for me. Did you have it boiled or fried?

Had it as an appetizer. It was fried like "popcorn chicken."

Gotcha. When I've had it fired, I drenched it in hot sauce... and it was good. When boiled, melted butter worked for me.

I think just getting over the fact that you're eating a reptile is the hard part. The flavor's better than chicken for me.
