Well, lets take it from the beginning. Who created the doctrine of precedent? Did you?

You can have a serious discussion if you like. However, if you suspect that maybe you're wrong, you could concede the point.

I am generally interested in your perspective. You have a post to convince me that the people decide common law precedent, rather than the courts themselves.

Honestly, I find that impossible with you. You seem incapable of following a logically presented argument, and will often throw up completely absurd red herrings to try and obscure your inability to grasp the subject matter. Because you seem, to me at least, to be so vested in defending everything left of center, you refuse to even acknowledge legitimate critique of anything, or anyone, which claims to champion those very flawed ideals.

The first philosophy course I took in university had a few students who couldn't grasp how to argue... you remind me of them.

Whoops, you're attacking me instead of presenting a reasonable argument.

How about you have another try. Will you concede or defend?

Maybe you should message BK. Maybe he'll be able to articulate your position, since you are unable.

Like I said, Hey sugar, look over there! There's a shiny thing.

The moment you start actually arguing like an adult you will see response in kind.

And yet when I posted the obvious, you didn't even give it a second's worth of thought. Try to grasp this very real concept... people make common law that courts will eventually acknowledge.

As I've noted numerous times... arguing with you is like arguing with a child.

It's so ridiculous that others have flat out pontificated that there is no way you actually believe the nonsense you post. You are simply trolling... because nobody is that stupid.

I've given you plenty of opportunities to expand on your point. After numerous attacks on my intelligence, you just restated your original point.

You're opportunity to bring something to the table is now over.

you could have clarified and expanded, like I asked you to initially, but it's too late now.

In other words... You are unable to spin the obvious truth I laid out to conform to your "thesis", so you want me to add more words onto it it so you can exploit some weakness that doesn't currently exist.

Got it!

The Authoritarian Mind

Hollywood producer and director Davis Guggeinheim just produced a 17-minute “documentary” hailing the greatness of Barack Obama and his many historic and profound accomplishments, and it will be released this week by the Obama campaign. Please just watch this two-minute interview of Guggenheim by CNN’s Piers Morgan in which Guggenheim explains that nothing critical can or should be said of our President other than the fact that he is so Great that his Greatness cannot be sufficiently conveyed in a single film (via VastLeft); other than noting the obvious — how creepy his Leader worship is and how perfect of a guest-host he’d be for several MSNBC shows — all I can say is that this is the pure face of the Authoritarian Mind, but it is as common as it is repellent.

sugar: Oranges are orange coloured.
chop: Wrong, they're green.
sugar: I'll bite, please expand.
chop: You can't formulate an argument, you're obviously an idiot!
sugar: whatever, feel free to expand.
chop: I'm condescending!
sugar: Whatever, feel free to expand
chop: I'm still condescending!
sugar: I give up.
chop: they're green!
sugar: I gave you a chance before, but it's too late now.
chop: I'm condescending!

sugar: Whatever, feel free to expand
chop: This is ridiculous. I've already told you, but you refuse to even consider the obvious.

This is just being condescending.

You could have just expanded like I requested. Something like

Quote:
chop: I suspect you're confusing Oranges with Eggplants. This is because of well reasoned rational argument A.
sugar: I hadn't considered A! Thanks!
chop: Your welcome.

This is the obvious reaction to a request for expansion.

Since you didn't do this, I suspect you have no reasoned rational argument A.

Big Brother is Love.

It gets creepier and creepier, and the once-liberal Democrats have become like shambling zombies. They've graduated beyond chanting lies ("Hope and Change!", "Yes We Can!"), and and now they're into outright Goodthink.

what precisely is illegal about this?

Did you read the thread? While campaign laws are rather complex, and violations can occur for doing things like using federal buildings for campaign reasons, I clearly stated that I had no idea whether this was legal or not.

I didn't read your next comment.

I didn't think this was illegal unless he did something like use federal funds. that, of course, would be illegal.

meh. this really isn't newsworthy. campaigning in the US is a monied game, and this is one way to do it.
