|
|
I installed Zsnes on my system but I got some problems running it. if I type zsnes in the shell it says it can't find the command. so I tried to go in root and type zsnes and same thing. So I searched around and found zsnes in /usr/games/bin. I ran it with ./zsnes with root privileges. Of course this is not the best way.
Is there a way to "create" a shortcut on my desktop to run it....and in shell to ? <--- I'm a noob btw ...I'm amazed I found where zsnes was lol _________________ I'm a noob, be gentle with me. TEACH ME

I'm not an expert in the matter, but it sounds like your regular user is not a member of group 'games'. You can try, in a shell, running 'groups', it will display the groups you are a member of.
If you're not in the games group, run 'gpasswd -a YourUserName games', replacing YourUserName with your real user name, obviously. This will quite possibly avoid the need to create a direct shortcut.
Hope that helps. |

I did that before posting of course. my user is part of the group called games.
I'm not sure myself if that is the problem but my user can't access the bin folder in /user/games. It says my user don't have enough permission so I believe this group thing has nothing to do with this folder. i could be wrong but the guru's should have that answer...not me lol. _________________ I'm a noob, be gentle with me. when you type 'groups', is games in the list?
users have to relogin (or su to themselves) for group changes to become active |
